MIDDLESEX PLANNING COMMISSION

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Middlesex Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 PM, June 19, 2019, in the Middlesex Town Hall, 5 Church Street, Middlesex, Vermont, to seek comments on the Commission’s May 15, 2019, draft of the proposed Middlesex Town Plan 2019-2027.  This notice is issued pursuant to 24 VSA §§ 4384 (d) and 4444.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This Town Plan is an update of Middlesex’s current Town Plan. The proposal covers all lands within the Town of Middlesex. Full copies of the draft Town Plan are available from the Middlesex Town Clerk at 5 Church Street, Middlesex, and online at middlesexvermont.org.  Topic areas of discussion include:

Chapter 1: A Community that Works for All

Chapter 2: A Landscape that Lasts

Chapter 3: A Place to Gather

Chapter 4: A Strong Foundation

Chapter 5: Achieving the Vision

Chapter 6: Maps and Appendices

TOWN OF MIDDLESEX

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

Notice is hereby given in accord with 32 V.S.A.§4111(g)* that the undersigned listers within and for the Town of Middlesex have this day completed the abstract of individual lists (abstract) of property owners as of the first day of April 2019. The listers have this same day lodged the abstract in the office of the clerk for the inspection of taxpayers.

On the following days and times listed below, the undersigned listers will meet in the Middlesex Town Clerk’s Office at 5 Church Street, Middlesex, to hear appeals of the taxpayers aggrieved by actions of the listers from whom timely grievances have been received.

To be timely, such grievance must be made IN WRITING and received (postmarks not accepted) by 4:30 PM on May 16, 2019, at the Middlesex Town Clerk’s Office. Grievance hearings will be held at the following times:

  • Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Monday, May 20, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

At the close of grievance hearings, the listers shall make such corrections in the abstract as were determined upon hearing or otherwise.

Unless cause to the contrary is shown, the contents of said abstract will, for the tax year 2019, become the grand list of the Town of Middlesex of each taxpayer named therein.

The Middlesex Food Shelf is open every Saturday from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Middlesex United Methodist Church, which is located on Church Street across the street from Town Hall.

  • Food donations can be made in the lobby of the Rumney School or at the food shelf (on Church Street) during its open hours on Saturdays.

  • Cash donations may be made at the Town Clerk’s office (Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).

  •  If you would like to donate to the Food Shelf via check, please click here for contact information.

    The Middlesex Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We do not close for lunch. However, the office is closed on Fridays.

    Please note that online payments are subject to additional fees:

    ~Electronic checks (eCheck) cost $1.50.

    AUTOMATIC ACH WITHDRAWAL

    The Town of Middlesex can issue an electronic withdrawal from either your checking or savings account from any
    Bank in the United States and apply it to your installment tax bill on the day it is due (Sept. 20 & Feb. 20). This convenient service can assure that you will avoid late fees from missed payments while keeping your money in your account until the last possible day. Call the Clerk's office and we will send you the form (802-223-5915).
