PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY

The Middlesex Select Board is seeking candidates to fill a vacancy on the Middlesex Planning Commission until the March 6, 2018 Town Meeting, per 24 V.S.A. §961- 963. Interested candidates should submit a letter of intent to the Middlesex Select Board, 5 Church Street, Middlesex 05602 or email mdxclerk@comcast.net.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
WARNING

 MAY 2, 2017


 
The inhabitants of the Town of Middlesex, who are legal voters in the Town, are notified and warned to meet in the Middlesex Town Clerk’s Office at 5 Church Street, in the Town of Middlesex on Tuesday, May, 2, 2017, between seven o’clock (7:00 a.m.) in the morning at which time the polls will open, and seven o’clock (7:00 p.m.) in the evening at which time the polls will close, to vote by Australian ballot upon the following Article of business:

Article I:
“Shall the Town voters authorize the purchase of a refurbished tanker for the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in the fiscal year 2017-2018 for an amount not to exceed $120,000 and to be financed over a period not to exceed ten years?” (24 V.S.A. §1786a(c))

 The legal voters of the Town of Middlesex are further notified that voter qualification, registration and absentee voting relative to said special meeting shall be as provided in Chapter 9 of Title 16 and Chapters 43, 51 and 55 of Title 17, Vermont Statutes Annotated.

The deadline for persons requesting absentee ballots on behalf of absent voters is 5:00 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2017.
Voters may contact the Town Clerk’s office with questions regarding voting.  
Adopted and approved at a meeting of the Middlesex Select Board, duly noticed, called and held on March 28, 2017.

MEETING TIME CHANGE

The next Middlesex Planning Commission meeting will be held one week earlier than regularly scheduled, at 6 p.m. April 12, 2017, in the Town Clerk’s Office, 5 Church Street, Middlesex. Normally, MPC meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Now is the time to license your dog!

What you will need for renewal:
A. A valid rabies certificate. If your dog was licensed last year AND had a 3-year rabies vaccine on file, chances are he/she/it is still good to go. You can call 223-5915 and check before….sending in a check.
B. Money. $9/fixed dog. $13/au natural. Please make checks payable to the Town of Middlesex.
ALSO, we are trying to improve our database of dogs so that when we find one without a tag, we have a better idea of who they are. Please include a detailed description of your pup: age, weight, color, breed, quirks (example: blue eyes or short legs).

 

The Middlesex Food Shelf is open every Saturday from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Middlesex United Methodist Church, which is located across the street from Town Hall.

  • Food donations can be made in the lobby of the Rumney School or at the food shelf (on Church Street) during its open hours on Saturdays.

  • Cash donations may be made at the Town Clerk’s office (Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).

    The Town of Middlesex can issue an electronic withdrawal from either your checking or savings account from any
    Bank in the United States and apply it to your installment tax bill on the day it is due (Sept. 15 & Feb. 15). This convenient service can assure that you will avoid late fees from missed payments while keeping your money in your account until the last possible day. Call the Clerk's office and we will send you the form (802-223-5915).
