WCUUSD Articles of Agreement

The amendment passed district-wide, 1,711 Approved to 1,365 Not Approved. WCUUSD School Board Chair Diane Nichols-Fleming wrote: “We recognize that the outcome of this vote will be received in many different ways across our community. As we move forward together, we remain dedicated to our community and our shared future. As always, our commitment to serving our communities, our staff, and most importantly, our students, remains our highest priority.”

Turnout

609 of Middlesex’s 1,586 registered voters cast ballots — just over 38% — including 154 returned absentee ballots. Of those, 512 were Democratic, 96 Republican, and 1 Progressive. There were no defective ballots.

This election ran because of our poll workers and counters. Thank you to everyone who took a shift, stayed late for the count, or stepped in just when a break was needed; to Cheryl Grandfield, beside me from setup to the last signature; to the Board of Civil Authority and the justices of the peace who saw our WCUUSD ballots safely to East Montpelier; and to everyone who gave up a summer Sunday evening for training. Thanks as well to Red Hen Baking Co. and the many neighbors who kept voters and volunteers fed all day.

 

General Election — Tuesday, November 3

For the General Election, all ballots will be mailed to all active voters by October 1. 

 

Voter Registration & Elections

Where You Can Register to Vote

• In person at the Middlesex Town Clerk’s Office, 5 Church Street
• Online through the Vermont Secretary of State’s Online Voter Registration system
• When doing business at the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles

When You Can Register to Vote

Vermont has no voter registration deadline. Verifiable residents may register any day — including at the polls on Election Day. You can check or update your registration anytime at the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.

Where You Can Vote in Middlesex

• Annual Town Meeting — held at Rumney Elementary School, 433 Shady Rill Road and/or as announced in the town meeting warning. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• All local, state, and general elections — Middlesex Town Hall, 5 Church Street. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Early or Absentee Voting

Any registered voter may vote early — no excuse or reason is required. You can request an early ballot through My Voter Page, or by contacting the Town Clerk’s Office by phone, mail, email, or in person. Requests are accepted until 5:00 p.m. (or the close of the office) on the day before the election.

You may vote early in person at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular office hours, or take your ballot home or have it mailed to you (time permitting). A family member or caregiver may request or return a ballot on your behalf with your permission.

For November general elections: every active registered voter is automatically mailed a ballot by October 1 — no request needed. Make sure your mailing address is current on My Voter Page.

Returning your ballot: by mail (must arrive before polls close on Election Day), in person at the Town Clerk’s Office by the close of business the day before the election, or at the polling place until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
