The 2022 Grand List
In Vermont, every community updates its “grand list” or total value of properties in its town existing as of April 1 of any year. Middlesex does this by way of Listers, elected officials who compute the value of each property relying on data they input into state-approved software. The value of your property may stay unchanged until you a) apply for a zoning permit to improve your house/land b) sell your property or c) the Select Board decides to conduct a town-wide reappraisal for various reasons. A grand list that’s as close to 100% of “fair market value” is ideal not only because it’s fair to all, but because it improves the town’s education tax rate. You may “grieve” your property valuation at any time for any reason after the Listers post the “preliminary grand list” at the end of April and hold grievance hearings. Notices of the grievance hearings dates are published in the Times-Argus, this website and several places around Town. For more info, contact the Listers on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm at 802-223-5915 or email the Listers by clicking here:

SEARCHABLE MIDDLESEX PROPERTY (TAX) MAP
Below is a link to a searchable tax map of Middlesex properties connected to current Grand List info compiled by the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission. You can zoom in for more information (such as street address) and right click to find out who owns the property, its grand list value (at the time of the map’s latest update), acreage and zoning district. You can save each property as a PDF or print. There are also measuring tools that are very helpful for a rough idea of the boundaries. NOTE: the parcels identified on the map are NOT to be substituted for legal survey maps. They are simply rough outlines of taxable parcels.
